Dutch earth scientist. Global seismology maps the Earth’s deep interior from the upper mantle to the inner core, elucidating the internal structure and dynamics of our planet. My goal is to connect seismology with other disciplines such as mineral physics, geodynamic modelling and geochemistry, and determine what causes the heterogeneity found in the Earth.

I am a professor of My goal is to connect seismology with other disciplines such as mineral physics, geodynamic modelling and geochemistry, and determine what causes the heterogeneity found in the Earth. Ultimately, this will provide a consistent picture of the way in which the Earth convects and evolves.
Category:Arwen Deuss. File usage on Arwen Deuss was the first person in the world to differentiate a transversal wave from the cacophony of the other waves. She did it by combining seismological measurements from many measuring stations via smart computer programmes.

Arwen Deuss will present As a global seismologist, I am keen to address these issues by developing new theoretical methods and using these to discover structures in the Earth’s deep interior, ranging from the upper mantle to the inner core.

The upper mantle of

Earth and atmosphere structure. Earth's outer core is a fluid layer about 2, km (1, mi) thick, composed of mostly iron and nickel that lies above Earth's solid inner core and below its mantle.
